Workshop Description
Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) is a research-based environmental prevention strategy found to be effective in reducing hazardous alcohol use among bar and restaurant patrons. This practical, participatory workshop will provide those who work in the restaurant industry with the professional server’s standards established by the CA Department of Alcohol and Beverage Control. This training is also appropriate for community members and coalitions interested in learning the steps necessary to build an effective RBS Program for their communities.
In this workshop, you can expect to:
· Learn about current liquor laws and the implications these laws have on business owners.
· Plan to build partnerships with law enforcement and community stakeholders.
· Learn to apply techniques for identifying and dealing with minors and intoxicated individuals.
· Certificate of Completion

About the Presenter
George Vasquez has extensive experience in environmental prevention programming and responsible beverage service. He has the unique experience of working in the hospitality industry as a restaurant and bar manager prior to his career in alcohol and substance abuse environmental prevention and responsible beverage service. In his prevention work, he has experience in coalition building between the community, business owners, law enforcement, and local and state government. He has provided training to hospitality industry workers, alcohol sales representatives, community associations, and law enforcement around RBS. He is fluent in the Spanish language and provides verbal and written translation of RBS and other prevention and training materials from English into Spanish. |
